Clogged Drain in Monterey Park

Sewer Repair & Pipe Lining in Monterey Park, CA.

Team Rooter Plumbing tackled a major sewer issue by exposing and replacing damaged piping, ensuring a long-lasting solution. Using the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining process, we installed a full-length epoxy liner, creating a seamless and jointless pipe for improved flow.

Before lining, we thoroughly cleaned the pipes, removing roots and debris. Our team also excavated a 4×4 hole, 7 feet deep, to repair a collapsed clay drain pipe.

Once repairs were complete, we backfilled and restored the floor to its original grade, leaving everything clean and up to code. Another job done right!

Clogged Drain in Chatsworth

New Project : Sewer Line Repair & Epoxy Coating in Chatsworth, CA

Team Rooter Plumbing responded to a home in Chatsworth where both bathrooms were backed up. After a camera inspection, we recommended descaling and hydro jetting the existing cast-iron pipes to clear buildup and restore flow. The process covered approximately 60 feet of piping, and we also attempted to remove roots from the clay pipe leading to the street.

After descaling, we discovered a compromised section of cast iron in the bedroom/office area. To properly repair it, we advised removing personal items before excavating through the concrete and dirt. Once the damaged section was replaced, we continued the drain inspection to ensure everything was clear.

To extend the life of the pipes, we applied an epoxy coating to the newly repaired sections, including the closet bends and main drains in the restrooms. This involved removing the toilets, coating both 3-inch and 4-inch sewer drains, and resetting the toilets once the work was completed. The team then backfilled and replaced the concrete in the bedroom.

For a permanent solution, we installed a full-length epoxy liner using the Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) process. This included a full video inspection, thorough cleaning, and inserting a resin-saturated liner to create a smooth, jointless interior. After final testing and cleanup, the home’s sewer system was fully restored, providing a long-lasting fix for the homeowners.

Main Line Back Up in North Hills

New Project : Main Line Back Up in North Hills

Team Rooter Plumbing recently addressed a backed-up sewer main line at a residential property. Our team started by servicing the blockage through a cleanout access located in the backyard, successfully clearing the line to restore proper drainage. A follow-up camera inspection revealed heavy root intrusion as the cause of the blockage.

To provide a lasting solution, we proceeded with a sewer main line replacement and two spot repairs. The first repair was near the property line, where we excavated a 4×4 hole down 8 feet to fully expose the line. The second repair was on the far-right side of the home, where we saw-cut and jackhammered concrete before excavating 3 feet down to access the sewer line.

Using hydraulic equipment, we pulled a new sewer main line made of durable polyethylene pipe. Connections were completed with ABS pipe, fittings, and proper bands to ensure a secure and efficient system. After installation, we thoroughly tested the new sewer main line with running water to confirm proper drainage and leak-free connections.

Excavated Spot Repair in Orange County

New Project : Spot Repair in Orange County

We recently completed an excavated spot repair in Orange County, addressing a mainline issue with precision and efficiency. The process began with a detailed video inspection to map the piping system accurately.

Our team cut and removed a 4×4 section of concrete, carefully hauling away all debris, and excavated three feet deep while keeping the work area clean and organized. After exposing and removing the compromised mainline cleanout, we hydrojetted both upstream and downstream, followed by another inspection to ensure the line was clear.

The new mainline cleanout was installed using approved transition couplings, gravel bedding was added, and the area was backfilled and patched with rough concrete. A second repair in a nearby grass area followed a similar process, including excavation, hydrojetting, video inspection, and the installation of a one-way mainline cleanout.

The site was thoroughly cleaned, and all debris was removed upon completion.

Team Rooter Plumbing remains committed to delivering reliable and effective plumbing solutions with attention to detail and professionalism.

Tips for a Plumbing Problem-Free Holiday Gathering

Plumbing Tips for a Problem-Free Holiday Gathering

Team Rooter Plumbing – Your Trusted Plumbers in Los Angeles and Southern California

The holiday season is a time for family, friends, and festivities. But if there’s one thing that can quickly ruin a joyous gathering, it’s an unexpected plumbing problem. At Team Rooter Plumbing, we’re here to ensure your holiday gatherings in Los Angeles and Southern California stay stress-free with these essential plumbing tips. Whether you’re in need of drain clearing, hydro jetting, pipe repair, or water heater replacement, our team has got you covered.

Clogged Drains

Prevent Clogged Drains with a Little Preparation
Holiday cooking often leads to clogged kitchen sinks, one of the most common issues we see this time of year. Fat, grease, and food scraps should never go down the drain. Instead:

  • Use a drain strainer to catch food particles.
  • Pour cooled grease into a container and dispose of it in the trash.
  • Schedule a professional drain clearing service before your guests arrive to prevent slow or clogged drains from ruining your party.

Garbage Disposal

Give Your Garbage Disposal a Holiday Tune-Up
Your garbage disposal works overtime during the holidays. Avoid overloading it and keep these items out:

  • Bones, pits, and fibrous vegetables (like celery and corn husks).
  • Coffee grounds, which can clump and cause blockages.
  • Eggshells and pasta, which can create sticky clogs.

Toilets

Avoid Bathroom Overflows
More guests mean more use of your bathrooms, which can strain your plumbing. Here’s how to avoid toilet troubles:

  • Place a trash bin nearby to encourage proper disposal of non-flushable items like wipes, paper towels, and sanitary products.
  • If your toilet has been slow to flush, consider scheduling a hydro jetting service to clear any blockages in your sewer line.

Water Heater

Check Your Water Heater
No one wants to run out of hot water when hosting guests. If your water heater is over 8–10 years old or you’ve noticed inconsistent heating, it might be time for a water heater replacement. Regular maintenance, such as flushing out sediment buildup, can also improve its efficiency during high-demand times.

Be Prepared for Outdoor Plumbing Needs

From garden hoses to outdoor drains, your exterior plumbing shouldn’t be overlooked. Ensure your outdoor drains are clear of leaves and debris. For larger issues like tree roots invading pipes, our trenchless pipe repair service offers a minimally invasive solution to keep things flowing smoothly.

Don’t Ignore Sewer Line Issues

A blocked sewer line can lead to disastrous backups inside your home. If you notice foul odors, slow drains, or gurgling sounds, act fast. Our street jobs and trenchless sewer line repair services can address even the toughest problems without tearing up your property.

Keep a Plumber on Speed Dial

Even with the best preparation, emergencies can happen. Team Rooter Plumbing offers 24/7 emergency plumbing services in Los Angeles, Orange County, and throughout Southern California. Whether it’s a burst pipe, a backed-up drain, or an urgent repair, we’re just a call away.

Book Your Holiday Plumbing Service Today!

The holidays are stressful enough without unexpected plumbing issues. Let Team Rooter Plumbing help you prepare for a problem-free season. Contact us today to schedule your service in Los Angeles or Southern California, and enjoy peace of mind knowing your plumbing is in expert hands.

Here are some additional tips for preventing plumbing problems during your holiday gathering:

  • Avoid using too much water at one time.
If you are running multiple appliances or fixtures at the same time, this can put a strain on your plumbing system and lead to problems.
  • If you are having a lot of guests, make sure to stagger their use of the bathroom and other plumbing fixtures.
This will help to prevent clogs and other problems from occurring.
  • Have a plunger and other plumbing tools on hand in case of an emergency.
This will help you to quickly resolve any minor problems that may occur.

Essential End-of-Summer Plumbing Maintenance: Prepare Your Home for Fall Now

Essential End-of-Summer Plumbing Maintenance: Prepare Your Home for Fall Now

As summer winds down and the crisp air of fall begins to creep in, it’s the perfect time to start preparing your home for the cooler months ahead. One area that’s often overlooked during this transition is your plumbing system. Just as you might prepare your garden or clean out your gutters, your plumbing deserves equal attention. Proactive plumbing maintenance in late summer can help prevent problems when cold weather arrives, saving you from costly repairs and water damage during the winter.

Let’s explore the essential end-of-summer plumbing maintenance tasks that will ensure your home’s plumbing system runs smoothly throughout the fall and winter months. This comprehensive guide will walk you through checking for leaks, cleaning your drains, and ensuring your water heater is ready for colder temperatures, among other crucial steps.

Clean and Clear Drains to Avoid Clogs

Over the summer, your drains have likely endured increased wear and tear due to frequent cooking, outdoor activities, and entertaining guests. Grease from grilling, food particles, and debris from showers can quickly accumulate, leading to slow drains and clogs. Neglecting to clean your drains before fall can cause further blockages, leading to more severe plumbing issues.

An easy way to clear your drains is by removing visible debris and using a drain snake or plunger for minor clogs. For a natural solution, you can use a mixture of baking soda and vinegar to help break down any buildup. Simply pour half a cup of baking soda down the drain, followed by an equal amount of vinegar. After allowing it to sit for 15 minutes, flush the drain with hot water.

For stubborn or recurring clogs, professional drain cleaning might be necessary. Regular maintenance helps ensure that your drains function smoothly and reduces the risk of more severe plumbing problems, like backups or burst pipes, later on.

Inspect Outdoor Plumbing Fixtures

As the summer ends, your outdoor plumbing fixtures, such as hoses, faucets, and sprinkler systems, should be inspected to prevent damage over the winter. These systems are particularly vulnerable to freezing temperatures, which can cause pipes to burst if they aren’t properly prepared.

Begin by disconnecting and inspecting your garden hoses. Look for any leaks or signs of damage. Storing hoses properly over the winter will extend their lifespan. For outdoor faucets, disconnect hoses and consider installing frost-free spigots if you live in a region where freezing temperatures are common. These spigots prevent water from freezing in the pipes, reducing the risk of expensive repairs.

Your sprinkler system may also need attention. Examine sprinkler heads for any damage or clogs, and make necessary replacements. If freezing temperatures are a concern in your area, it’s worth having your system professionally winterized to avoid freezing and burst pipes.

Check for Leaks to Prevent Bigger Problems

With the heavy water usage typical of summer—whether from filling pools, watering lawns, or frequent outdoor showers—your plumbing system can be stressed, making leaks more likely. Now is the perfect time to inspect your home for any leaks, especially those that may have gone unnoticed.

Start by examining all visible pipes, faucets, and connections, particularly under sinks and in your basement. Pay close attention to any water stains, rust, or moisture around pipes, as these are telltale signs of a leak. Outdoor faucets and hoses are also prone to leaks after heavy summer usage. Even a small drip can lead to higher water bills and significant water wastage.

Address leaks immediately. For minor issues, you may only need to tighten connections or replace washers. However, for more significant or hard-to-reach leaks, calling a professional plumber will save you headaches later, particularly when cold temperatures increase the risk of frozen pipes.

Schedule a Professional Plumbing Inspection

While there are many plumbing maintenance tasks you can perform on your own, sometimes it’s best to call in the professionals. Scheduling a comprehensive plumbing inspection at the end of summer is a great way to ensure your entire plumbing system is in good working order before the cooler weather arrives.

During a professional inspection, a plumber will check all aspects of your plumbing system, including pipes, fixtures, water heaters, and sump pumps. They can identify any potential issues, such as leaks, clogs, or worn-out parts, and recommend repairs or replacements to prevent problems from escalating.

Schedule a professional plumbing inspection with us today, and let our expert team help you catch and fix any issues before they turn into costly problems. With regular maintenance, you can enjoy a worry-free transition into the cooler seasons and keep your home running smoothly all year round.

How to Prevent Summer Plumbing Disasters During Vacation

How to Prevent Summer Plumbing Disasters During Vacation

Summer is the perfect time to take a vacation, whether it’s a weekend getaway or a longer trip to a faraway destination. But before you pack your bags and hit the road, it’s important to make sure your home is prepared to handle your absence—especially when it comes to your plumbing. A plumbing disaster can quickly turn your relaxing vacation into a stressful ordeal, so taking a few simple precautions before you leave can save you from coming home to a flooded basement or a major leak.

Shut Off the Main Water Valve

One of the most effective ways to prevent a plumbing disaster while you’re on vacation is to shut off the main water valve. This valve controls the flow of water into your home, and turning it off can prevent water from flooding your house in the event of a leak or burst pipe.

To shut off the main water valve, locate it near the point where the water line enters your home. This is often in the basement, garage, or near the water heater. Turn the valve clockwise to shut off the water supply. If you’re unsure where your main water valve is located or how to operate it, consider calling a plumber to show you how.

In addition to shutting off the main water valve, it’s also a good idea to open all the faucets in your home to drain any remaining water from the pipes. This will help reduce the pressure in the plumbing system and minimize the risk of leaks.

Clear Your Drains

Clogged drains can lead to slow drainage, unpleasant odors, and even water damage if they overflow. Before you leave on vacation, take the time to clear your drains and ensure they’re flowing freely.

Start by removing any visible debris from your sinks, showers, and tubs. You can use a drain snake or plunger to remove any clogs that may be deeper in the pipes. For a more thorough cleaning, consider using a natural drain cleaner made from baking soda and vinegar.

In addition to clearing your drains, avoid pouring grease, oil, or food scraps down the drain, as these can solidify and cause blockages. If you’re concerned about the condition of your drains, consider scheduling a professional drain cleaning service before you leave on vacation.

Inspect Your Water Heater

Your water heater is another important component of your plumbing system that requires attention before you leave on vacation. Water heaters can develop leaks or other issues, especially if they’re older or haven’t been maintained regularly.

Before you leave, check your water heater for any signs of leaks, such as puddles of water around the base or rust on the tank. If you notice any issues, it’s best to call a plumber to address them before you go.

If your water heater has a “vacation mode” setting, use it to reduce the temperature and energy usage while you’re away. This can help prevent the buildup of pressure and reduce the risk of a leak. If your water heater doesn’t have a vacation mode, you can manually lower the temperature setting to save energy and reduce wear and tear on the unit.

Secure Your Washing Machine

Washing machines are a common source of water damage, especially if the hoses are old or improperly installed. A burst washing machine hose can cause significant flooding, so it’s essential to take precautions before you leave on vacation.

Start by inspecting the hoses for any signs of wear or damage, such as cracks or bulges. If you notice any issues, replace the hoses with new, high-quality ones made from stainless steel. These hoses are more durable and less likely to burst compared to standard rubber hoses.

In addition to inspecting the hoses, make sure the washing machine is properly secured and level. An unbalanced machine can cause the hoses to become loose or disconnected, increasing the risk of a leak.

To further protect your home, consider turning off the water supply to the washing machine while you’re away. This can prevent water from flowing into the machine and reduce the risk of flooding.

Don’t let a plumbing disaster ruin your vacation! Schedule a pre-vacation plumbing inspection with us today, and we’ll ensure your home is safe and secure while you’re away. Our expert team will check your entire plumbing system, so you can enjoy your trip with peace of mind.

Why Insurance Companies Require Shutoff Valves and Why the Moen Smart Flo Shutoff Valve and Monitor is the Best Choice

Why Insurance Companies Require Shutoff Valves and Why the Moen Smart Flo Shutoff Valve and Monitor is the Best Choice

Why Insurance Companies Require Shutoff Valves & Why the Moen Smart Flo Shutoff Valve is the Best Choice

Why Insurance Companies are Requiring Shutoff Valves to Continue Coverage

Water damage is one of the most common and expensive problems homeowners face. To help prevent this, some insurance companies are starting to require shutoff valves in homes. In this article, we’ll explain why these valves are important, which insurance companies are making them a requirement, and why the Moen Smart Flo Shutoff Valve and Monitor is the best option on the market. Plus, we’ll share how Team Rooter Plumbing can help you with a special installation offer.

Why Are Insurance Companies Requiring Shutoff Valves?

Water damage can be extremely costly to repair. It can ruin floors, walls, furniture, and even the foundation of your home. To avoid paying out large sums for water damage claims, insurance companies are now requiring homeowners to install shutoff valves. These devices can detect leaks and shut off the water supply automatically, preventing major damage.

Insurance Companies Requiring Shutoff Valves

Several insurance companies are starting to see the benefits of shutoff valves and are either requiring them or offering discounts for having them installed. Here are a few examples:

  1. American Family Insurance: American Family Insurance is encouraging their policyholders to install smart shutoff valves. They recognize that these devices can prevent costly water damage, leading to fewer claims and lower costs for everyone.

  2. Liberty Mutual: Liberty Mutual is another insurance company that is on board with the benefits of smart shutoff valves. They offer incentives to homeowners who install these devices, helping to protect homes and reduce insurance claims.

Ultimate Spring Plumbing Checklist for Every Homeowner

Ultimate Spring Plumbing Checklist for Every Homeowner

Spring is not just a time for cleaning your home; it’s also the perfect season to check and maintain your plumbing system. After the long winter months, your pipes, faucets, and the entire plumbing system can greatly benefit from a thorough check-up to prevent any issues from arising during the warmer months. Team Rooter Plumbing brings you a comprehensive spring plumbing checklist filled with DIY tips and professional advice to keep your home’s plumbing in top shape. Whether it’s drain cleaning, hydro-jetting services, or just routine maintenance, we’ve got you covered for all residential and commercial plumbing needs.

Ultimate Spring Plumbing Checklist for Every Homeowner

Inspect Pipes for Leaks

Winter can be harsh on your pipes. With the thawing of spring, it’s crucial to check all exposed pipes for signs of leakage.

DIY Tip
Visually inspect pipes in your basement, crawl space, and utility areas for any signs of moisture or drips. Listen for leaks you can’t see.

Leak Detection & Repair
If the leak is due to corrosion or if you’re uncomfortable doing the repair yourself, it’s time to call in the experts. Persistent leaks can lead to higher water bills and water damage.

Clear Out Gutters & Downspouts

Clogged gutters can lead to water damage on your roof and walls. Make sure they’re clear of debris to allow proper drainage away from your home.

DIY Tip:
Safely use a ladder to remove leaves, twigs, and debris from your gutters and check downspouts for blockages, using a hose to flush them out.

Prepare Your Water Heater

After working hard during the winter, your water heater needs a check-up to continue providing hot water efficiently.

DIY Check:
Drain a few gallons from the water heater tank to remove sediment. Check the temperature setting to ensure it’s not above 120°F for energy efficiency.

Expert Water Heater Repair or Replacement
If you notice noise, leaks, or rust, or if the system is older than 10 years, consider scheduling a professional inspection or discussing replacement options.

Inspect and Clean Showerheads & Aerators

Mineral buildup can affect water pressure and quality. Cleaning your showerheads and faucet aerators is an easy spring task.

DIY Cleaning:
Soak aerators and showerheads in vinegar overnight to dissolve mineral deposits, then rinse with water.

When to Call a Pro
If you notice reduced water pressure even after cleaning, it could be a sign of a more significant issue in your plumbing system.

Schedule Drain Cleaning

Regular drain maintenance can prevent clogs and ensure your system is ready for increased usage in warmer months.

DIY Maintenance:
Use a homemade mixture of vinegar and hot water to flush your drains, keeping them free from minor clogs and odors.

Professional Drain Cleaning
For deep clogs or if you’re experiencing multiple slow drains, professional drain cleaning or hydro-jetting might be necessary.

Check Faucets for Drips or Leaks

Outdoor and indoor faucets should be checked for leaks, a common issue after the cold months.

DIY Fix:
Replace washers or gaskets in leaky faucets. Tighten any loose parts and check for improvement.

Leak Detection & Repair
Persistent leaks or issues with water pressure may indicate a deeper problem. In such cases, contacting a plumber is advisable.
